Lower Prairie features pioneer style lodgings - cozy log cabins tucked into a grove of poplar trees, overlooking the scenic Prairie River.

Just beyond your cabin door, the river is teeming with Dolly Varden and Arctic Grayling. Go fishing anytime you like!

Our cozy log cabins accommodate two guests each with room to spare. We also offer one larger cabin which will comfortably accommodate a family of five. The cabins are solar lit. There is a centralized cook house (with chef included!).The shower and wash cabins are separate as are the toilet facilities. They are similar to those found in RV camps, with two sides, one for men and one for women.

One of the most popular features at Lower Prairie is the river float trip down the Prairie River. There are frequent stops enroute to fish, enjoy a campfire lunch and to visit an extraordinary mineral lick a few yards in from the bank of the river.

Here it is possible to see over 100 mountain sheep at a time as they gather to feed. Some guests choose to stay at this site for several hours, hiding behind blinds 30 yards away from the mountain sheep. Then, at a prearranged time, they are picked up by helicopter or horse and taken back to camp.

Another exciting feature at Lower Prairie is the close proximity of other mineral licks - within 10 minutes walk from camp - with superb wildlife viewing. These licks attract large numbers of elk and moose as well as a few caribou and deer. The stream fishing in this area is also excellent.

Enjoy too the following activities which are common to all our camps:
